What the Maisons Cannot Give You

The Answer to the Collector's Dilemma

The Commission, In Five Conversations

A private consultation — unhurried, without obligation — to understand your aesthetic sensibility, technical preferences, and the legacy intention behind the commission. This is not a sales meeting. It is the first act of making. Together, we identify the complication that serves your vision: a tourbillon for its mechanical poetry, a perpetual calendar for its relationship with time, a minute repeater for the intimacy of sound. Movement provenance is documented from this moment forward. Material choices are made at the frontier of what the market currently offers — this is where the 0.8% innovation premium in bespoke horology is earned. Iterative design sessions with the master watchmaker. Each element — case geometry, dial architecture, finishing technique, engraving — is proposed, refined, and approved before any component is committed. You hold approval at every stage. Bespoke commissions at Aevum require between 12 and 24 months, depending on complication complexity. This timeline is stated here, not discovered later. Sophisticated collectors understand that what takes less time is worth less time. Milestone updates are provided throughout. Delivery of your timepiece is accompanied by its complete authenticated provenance dossier — movement serial, material certificates, independent authentication, and the full record of every decision made in its creation. The dossier is as considered as the watch itself. It is the document that will outlast both of us. ---

Questions the Considered Collector Asks
Production references carry strong secondary value, but they share a ceiling with every other example of the same reference. The pre-owned luxury watch market is growing at 1.3% above baseline, and authenticated provenance is the primary driver of premium above that baseline. A documented bespoke commission — with full material certificates and independent authentication — has no comparable ceiling. Its uniqueness is its floor. Commissions begin at £85,000 and are scoped entirely to your vision and the complexity of the movement selected. Following the initial consultation, we provide a detailed investment proposal before any commitment is made. There is no obligation at that stage, and the consultation itself carries no cost. Between 12 and 24 months, depending on the complication and the material choices involved. We state this at the outset because we respect your time and your planning. A milestone timeline is provided at the design stage, and you receive direct updates from the master watchmaker throughout the making. The design process includes a minimum of four iterative review stages before any component is committed to production. Your written approval is required at each stage — movement selection, design resolution, material confirmation, and finishing. A commission does not proceed past any stage without your explicit consent. The process is structured so that the final delivery is not a moment of uncertainty. It is a confirmation of what you have already seen becoming. Yes. A number of our commissions are intended from the outset as gifts — for a significant occasion, a generational transfer, or an estate document in mechanical form. The provenance dossier is designed to serve this purpose: it records the commissioner, the intention, the materials, and the craft lineage, so that the recipient — and every subsequent holder — understands the full weight of what they have been given. We are glad to discuss how the commission process accommodates a gift context from the first conversation. --- ## footer The conversation costs nothing. The commission lasts generations.
